A previous report said that the teen was 14-years-old. This is incorrect, the teen is 13-years-old. A previous report also said that the person of interest could be 5 feet and 10 inches tall. That has been changed to 6 feet.
EVERETT, JAN. 16, 1:51 p.m.: Everett Police continue to search for the person of interest in the stabbing of a teen boy in downtown Everett Thursday, Jan. 16 morning.
The adult described by witnesses is a Black male, approximately 6-feet-tall and last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt with a yellow beanie.
“Our department is committed to locating the person responsible for this attack and we ask the community to please reach out if you know anything at all that will help us apprehend this individual,” Everett Police Chief John DeRousse said.
According to an email sent to North Middle School Families, the student walked onto campus with apparent stab wounds and reported being assaulted off-campus on their way to school by an unknown adult.
School staff proceeded to call 911 and provided care to the student. Police arrived around 8 a.m. and thoroughly searched the area with a K9 unit and drones. The lockout was lifted at 10:30 a.m.
Out of caution, North Middle School will have an increased police presence on campus and the surrounding area when students leave school today.
“If your student walks home and you prefer, they not do so today, you are welcome to pick them up at the designated parent pick-up location on Rainier Avenue. To coordinate a pickup change with your student, please call the school office at (425) 385-4800,” the email said.
As of this time the victim is in stable condition at Providence Regional Medical Center.
The circumstances behind what led up to this incident are still under investigation.
“I am absolutely heartbroken about the 13-year-old who was attacked this morning. As a mom who walked her daughter to school along the exact same route every day, I’m horrified by this violent act,” Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said. “Public safety is our City’s top priority and our Everett Police will continue to dedicate all our resources towards identifying and locating the person of interest and ensuring our residents feel safe throughout our community.”

According to the email sent at 12:12 p.m., the student walked onto campus with apparent stab wounds and reported being assaulted off-campus on their way to school by an unknown adult.
School staff proceeded to call 911 and provided care to the student. Police thoroughly searched and secured the area, and the lockout was lifted at 10:30 a.m.
According to an earlier update from Everett Fire, the student is in stable condition.

EVERETT, JAN. 16: Everett Police are looking for an individual who may be involved in a stabbing of a teen early Thursday, Jan. 16 morning.
The person of interest has been identified by police as a Black male, approximately 5-foot-10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and yellow beanie.

The male teen,13, was stabbed around 7:50 a.m. near 26th St and Broadway. Everett Fire has taken the teen to Providence Regional Medical Center. He is in stable condition, according to Everett Fire.
North Middle School went under a precautionary lockdown, according to a screenshot of an email sent this morning posted on Facebook.
Police are asking the community to call 911 immediately if they have any information about the whereabouts of the above person of interest.
