(The Center Square) – Washington voters cast their ballots in 10 U.S. House races on Tuesday, with the balance of power in Congress potentially depending on key battlegrounds in the state’s 3rd and 4th Congressional Districts.

Early returns have begun to shape the political landscape across the state, highlighting a mix of incumbents defending their seats and open races to replace outgoing officials.

Both parties have focused efforts on Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, where Democratic incumbent Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez faces a challenge from Republican state Senate Minority Leader John Braun. Republicans have focused on the district as a pickup opportunity, citing Gluesenkamp Perez’s stance on the state’s income tax as a vulnerability.

The following results were as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Gluesenkamp Perez is leading Braun with a count of 142,298 (55.04%) to 114,028 (44.10%).

The district has traditionally been a conservative stronghold, though the open seat has seen increased attention this election cycle.

McKinney is leading Duresky with a count of 74,133 (54.13%) to 62,569 (45.68%).
