EVERETT, JULY 23: Everett Police Detectives are continuing to investigate the theft of a fire engine that resulted in a series of collisions and damage Friday night.

Just after 11 p.m. Friday, July 18 the Everett Fire engine crew, who was responding to a medical emergency at an apartment in the 2900 block of Hoyt Ave., discovered the vehicle was missing.
Soon after, reports of multiple hit-and-runs were made along Hoyt Ave, Alverson Blvd and Marine View Dr. All the vehicles impacted were unoccupied and parked, and there were no reported injuries.
Everett Police quickly responded to the location where the fire engine was ultimately parked in the 1000 block of W. Marine View Dr., establishing containment and conducting a K-9 track. The suspect still remains at large.
Everett officials have confirmed that the suspect is a male, but additional details regarding his identity are not available at this time, Everett Fire and Everett Police said in a joint press release on Tuesday, July 22.
Initial reports of the incident claimed 14 vehicles were involved. Everett officials later confirmed 12 vehicles sustained damage, including the engine itself.
The stolen fire engine, a 35,000 pound 2018 Pierce Enforcer Pumper, suffered significant damage and was placed out of service and impounded for evidence. A reserve fire apparatus has been placed into service.
“Losing a fire engine to such a reckless person not only jeopardizes the safety of our first responders but also puts our community at risk,” Everett Police Chief John DeRousse said in a press release. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents, and any information that helps us resolve this incident is crucial. It is imperative that we hold the suspect accountable for their actions, and we will work diligently to bring them to justice.”
At this time, Everett officials said it is too soon to determine the full extent of the damage, and the dollar amount the stolen fire engine has sustained.

- 2900 Hoyt Avenue: Original theft location
- 2600 Hoyt Avenue: Collision involving two parked vehicles
- 1300 Hoyt Avenue: Additional collision with two parked vehicles
- 900 Hoyt Avenue: Collision involving one vehicle
- 500 Alverson Blvd: Damage to landscaping trees
- Alverson Blvd & W Marine View Drive: Damage to directional signs, curbing, and grass
- 1000 E Marine View Drive: Collision involving six vehicles
