An update on our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month for October 2024; ambulatory cross country runner Ramon Little of Arlington High School. Ramon finished second place at the 2024 State Cross Country Meet Ambulatory Race in the fall. We noted at the time that Ramon competed on a conventional lower leg prosthetic during the state meet; but had begun a series of fittings for a new cross-country running blade.
He apparently took to the new blade just fine.
Little recently competed at the Hartford Nationals in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He returned with three national championships. The Hartford Nationals is the largest and longest-running para-athletic meet in the nation; drawing 400 plus para-athletes from all over the USA. He is the 400m; 800m and 1500m national champion in the U17 T64 classification. Ramon set the national record for the 1500m run with a time of 5:01.34 (a record that stood for 6 years). Of note, Little competed at the national level while still recovering from a fractured arm; having only trained for a few weeks.
