EVERETT, AUG 1: Everett firefighters responded to a boat fire Friday morning at the Port of Everett marina.
At 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, a boat fire was reported at a fuel dock. No serious injuries were reported.
The 32-foot vessel caught on fire at the Port of Everett’s $8.1 million fuel dock, unveiled earlier this summer. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Four people and a dog were on board at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate. Two were assessed for smoke inhalation, though no serious injuries were reported.
First responders were on scene of the incident at 9:43 a.m. By 10:13 a.m., the majority of the flames were extinguished. A bystander reported feeling an “explosion” soon after the fire started.
The boat had 300 gallons of fuel, and no apparent leak was found, Rachael Doniger, Everett Fire Public Information Officer, said. The Coast Guard and Department of Ecology are investigating any possible pollution risks.
The boat has been removed from the fuel dock as of noon Friday.
The fire department asks everyone to keep the dock clear as they continue their investigation.
