The KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Year for 2024-25 is multi-sport athlete Leyton Martin of Arlington High School.
Martin was a 12-time athletic letter winner while competing for the Eagles in football, basketball and track & field. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, he was Arlington ASB Vice-President; National Honor Society member and 2025 Class Valedictorian with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
On the football field, Martin, the quarterback, was named first-team All-Wesco in 2022, 2023 and 2024 (4A); he was first-team All-State in 2023 (3A) and 2024 (4A). He is now the all-time Arlington High School leader in Most Passing Yards and touchdowns in a game, in a season, and in a career. As a senior, he led the Eagles to an upset victory over Lake Stevens (breaking the Vikings’ 14-year league winning streak) before losing to Camas 35-21 in the State 4A Quarterfinals. Arlington head football coach is Greg Dailer.
On the basketball court, Martin, the point/shooting guard, was first-team All-Wesco in 2022, ‘23, ‘24 and ‘25. Wesco League MVP in 2023, ’24 & ‘25; First team All-State in 2023 & ’24. He is now the all-time Arlington High School leader in Points (game, season, career); Assists (game, season, career); Steals (game, season, career); Rebounds (game, season, career). Plus, most points in a single game with 45 vs. Lynden Christian in 2025. Arlington head basketball coach was Nick Brown (freshman, sophomore, junior seasons) and Drew Bryson (senior season).
Leyton was also a 4-year participant in the Eagles’ Track & Field program and was a state qualifier in the high jump in 2023. Track & Field coach at Arlington is Judd Hunter.
Leyton Martin will play college basketball at BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles). Athletic Director at Arlington is Tom Roys.
