EVERETT, SEPT. 16: Everett Police arrested a 60-year-old male in conjunction with a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in late July on West Casino Rd.
Since the incident, Traffic Safety Unit investigators have worked to process the collision scene, which spanned 10 blocks. Their efforts included the collection and analysis of video, biological and digital evidence, as well as conducting several witness and suspect interviews.
Due to the amount of evidence and the size of the scene, an arrest took longer, Everett Police Spokesperson Natalie Given said.
On the morning of Sunday, July 27, about 4:30 a.m. officers responded to the 8500 block of 7th Ave. SE.
The call to dispatch reported a person lying on the side of the road. Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured male. Unfortunately, the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Evidence at the scene led officers to conclude that the male was a pedestrian and was struck by a vehicle in the area of Casino Road and 5th Ave. W.
The vehicle continued to drive after hitting the man, resulting in the victim ending up further down the road, where he was found on 7th Ave. SE, spanning 10 blocks.
On Tuesday, July 29, investigators identified the suspect vehicle and a potential driver. The suspect vehicle was impounded and processed for additional evidence.
The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Felony Hit and Run Tuesday, Sept. 16.
