An outstanding multi-sport athlete, Carmelo won the 2026 3A State Wrestling 190 pound Championship at the 2026 Mat Classic at the Tacoma Dome. He won the state title by defeating Shorewood’s Lukas Probizanski 10-6, a wrestler he had previously gone 1-3 against during the regular season. LaRocca didn’t even start wrestling until his sophomore; instead played football. He qualified for the state tournament as a sophomore; placed seventh last year and ended his high school career with a state championship. Carmelo carries a 3.65 GPA and has fielded several offers to continue his football career at the collegiate level.
