Our KRKO Russell and Hill Male Student Athlete for May 2026 is senior Jaden Marlow of the Shorewood High School Track & Field Team.
Jaden Marlow takes the phrase “multi-sport athlete” to a whole new level. As a third-year varsity basketball captain, Marlow led the Stormrays to a 19-8 overall record; a district tournament title and an appearance at the State 3A Tournament at the Tacoma Dome. He scored more than 1000 career points for the Stormrays on the basketball court. On the track, he was stellar. Winning state 3A championships in the long jump and pole vault; finishing runner-up in the 110 hurdles and seventh in the discus. His best sport, however, is the decathlon. Competing in the 10 events (long jump, pole vault, high jump, discus, shot put, javelin, 110 hurdles; 100m, 400m and 1500m), Jaden was National Champion in the USATF U20 in 2025 and is currently ranked 4th in the nation and 11th in the world for the U20 Decathlon. He has scored in the Top 10 all-time U20 scores in the USA.
Sporting a 3.75 GPA with five 5 AP courses, Jaden is continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of Washington and will be joining the multis squad on the Track & Field team. Basketball coach at Shorewood is Joey Petschl; Track & Field coach is Joel Reese and Paul Villanueva; athletic director is Joann Fukuma and district athletic director is Don Dalziel.
