LAKE STEVENS — Neighbors rushed to help a pilot who crashed a single-engine plane in the back yard of a property in the 11000 of 127th Ave NE, according to the Snohomish County Fire District #22, praising the quick actions of the good Samaritans.
At approximately 6:05 p.m., according to Fire District #22, crews responded to a reported single-engine aircraft crash. Neighbors immediately provided first aid before crews arrived. Their quick actions, according to fire officials helped provide the best possible outcome for the occupant. Additional responding units assisted with quickly extricating the occupant, who was transported to an area trauma center.
At the time of the incident, Getchell firefighters were handling an unrelated medical call nearby. A Getchell chief officer diverted from that call and arrived to find a single-engine aircraft in a yard adjacent to the Frontier Air Park community. The aircraft’s sole occupant was trapped and had sustained serious injuries.
The crash is being investigated by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and any questions regarding the investigation should be directed to them. There is no ongoing risk to the community.
