BOTHELL — Construction work will close all lanes of southbound I-405 from Highway 527 to Highway 522, Friday October 30 at 10 p.m. to Monday November 2 at 4 a.m., to remove a section of the pedestrian over-pass bridge that spans I-405 southeast of the Bothell-Everett Highway, according to Washington State Dept. of Transportation.
The pedestrian bridge will close permanently at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Crews will remove a section of the pedestrian bridge at Canyon Park to make space to widen I-405 through Bothell. WSDOT says drivers should anticipate traffic delays on southbound I-405 in Bothell approaching the closure. Detour routes will be posted at the Hwy 527 exit
Bothell city officials say expect severe regional delays and significant congestion on surrounding highways and local streets, including in Canyon Park, North Creek, and Downtown Bothell as detour routes won’t be able to handle normal I-405 traffic volumes.
Drivers should follow official signed detours and avoid cutting through neighborhood streets. Signed routes are coordinated to help keep traffic moving and help preserve access for people who live and work in Bothell. If possible, use transit, adjust travel times by leaving early or staying later, or avoid travelling in the area during the weekend. Plan ahead and allow for plenty of extra time for travel.
Beginning October 30 and until 2028, the pedestrian bridge at the Canyon Park Park & Ride will be closed.
Also this weekend, all lanes of northbound I-5 on the main line from I-90 to NE 45th Street over the Ship Canal Bridge in Seattle will close Friday Oct. 30 at 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Mon. Nov. 2. WSDOT crews will remove the Revive I-5 Ship Canal Bridge work zone in the two right northbound lanes of the bridge as well as complete some remaining work. The I-5 Ship Canal bridge repairs are finishing earlier than previously planned due to recent dry weather in September and October.
The I-5 express lanes over the Ship Canal Bridge will remain open NB only during the weekend.
On Nov. 6th-9th, all lanes of northbound I-405 from SR 522 to SR 527 will be closed from 11:00pm Friday, Nov. 6 to 5:00am Monday, Nov. 9. The Canyon Park Park & Ride will also close for the weekend. Crews will remove a section of the pedestrian bridge and the elevator tower at Canyon Park Park & Ride.
