EVERETT, MAY 5: The City of Everett has temporarily reinstated its Cultural Arts Grant program for 2025, allowing nonprofits to receive grants to deliver free arts programming.
The Cultural Arts Grant program was paused due to funding cuts prompted by the failure of Proposition 1, the city said in a press release. The program was reinstated this year thanks to councilmember Judy Tuohy’s allocation of $25,000 in COVID-19 recovery funds.
“The arts are a vital part of Everett’s identity, quality of life and our economy,” Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said. “Balancing the 2025 required additional budget reductions, including pausing our beloved Cultural Arts grant program, which has supported fantastic art such as instrument repair for low-income Everett students and arts programming for youth and seniors. I look forward to seeing the great community projects that come from Councilmember Tuohy’s allocation.”
Five grants of $5,000 will be awarded to eligible nonprofit organizations or neighborhood associations. Applications for the grant opened on May 1 and will close May 31.
Examples of eligible programs include:
- Free community concerts and cultural events
- Arts education programs and creative workshops
- Public art projects with community participation
- Arts programming in Everett neighborhoods
- Discounted or free tickets for Everett residents
