EVERETT, JAN. 16: Everett will be one of nine locations across Washington to host a fan zone during the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
The FIFA World Cup is an international soccer tournament held every four years, and this year will be hosted in America, Canada and Mexico. Lumen Field in Seattle will host six matches, two of which are in the knockout stage.
“SeattleFWC26 sought partnerships with communities outside of King County to create vibrant fan zones, in order to ensure that as many Washingtonians as possible can be part of this historic event,” according to a press release from The Seattle FIFA World Cup 26 Local Organizing Committee (SeattleFW26).
SeattleFW26 is working with FOX 13 Seattle, a broadcast partner of FIFA World Cup 26, to support fan zones, according to the press release.
“Programming for fan zones during the Seattle FIFA World Cup matches may feature live entertainment, interactive fan activations, and food & beverage,” the release said.
To prepare the county for FIFA2026, the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County (EASC) will host an interactive planning session on Jan. 21. During this event, Mayor Franklin will share more information on Everett’s participation in the fan zones.
“Everett is the place to be for the FIFA World Cup in 2026! As the home of AquaSox Baseball, Silvertips Hockey, Jets Soccer and Wolfpack Football, Everett is an incredibly proud sports town,” Mayor Cassie Franklin said. “We look forward to welcoming passionate and energized soccer fans for FIFA World Cup fun at our fan zone and throughout our city!”
The planning session will feature insights from speakers representing the SeattleFWC26, Sound Transit, the City of Everett, and other key stakeholders.
Attendees will learn about transportation planning, infrastructure development, tourism promotion and business readiness. The free Zoom, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, is open to the public.
