EVERETT WATERFRONT – It’s rumored extinction circulated for years. But this week, the wrecking ball finally took out the Everett Yacht Club building.

After years at the foot of Hewitt Avenue, the Yacht Club built a state-of-the-art facility in the early 1970s and it became the “go to” spot for countless wedding receptions, class reunions, Christmas parties and other civic events and meetings. With two large event areas, and three smaller meeting rooms; many a weekend there would be a half dozen events at “The Yacht Club.” These were the days prior to the Everett Events Center (Angel of the Winds Arena) and larger hotels being constructed in Everett.
The Everett Yacht Club itself moved out of the building nearly a decade ago; it’s now located in Waterfront Place near Anthony’s Homeport Restaurant. For a while the building was used as a makeshift office for the Port of Everett’s makeover/construction.
But alas, the building’s useful life came to an end, and the Port has decided they can make better use of the prime piece of real estate.
