EVERETT — An adult male apprehended with 87 grams of methamphetamine and 22 grams of fentanyl powder is facing possession with intent to deliver charges, according to Everett Police, after the bust was made in Garfield Park, which includes a large playground structure for kids and sports fields.
The Everett Police Community Response Team (CRT) received information preceding the arrest that a male subject was selling drugs at the Riverside neighborhood park. According to the police report, CRT officers observed the male make a hand-to-hand transaction and moved in for the arrest. The subsequent search revealed the fentanyl and meth. The criminal charge is a felony under RCW 69.50.401, with potential sentences ranging from 5 to 10 years in prison but according to defense attorneys a sentencing range of 12-20 months is a potential norm for a defendant with no prior criminal history.
Everett Police say that arrest was one of 71 in the last week in a new report that the department is issuing in a series called EPD Police Blotter, intended to give the Everett community a closer look at some of the calls, cases and police work happening across the city. EPD advises the Police Blotter weekly report is just a snapshot – not a complete list of incidents – but intends it to help keep residents informed.
Along with the 71 arrests in the previous week there were 199 traffic infractions issued by city police.
License plate readers and Everett Police’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) combined to arrest a rape suspect in North Everett during the week. According to the investigation, a neighboring law enforcement agency broadcast they had probable cause to arrest a male for Rape 2 pertaining to a recent incident in their jurisdiction. The Everett CRT utilized suspect vehicle information and license plate readers (LPR) to locate the vehicle in North Everett. Initially, the suspect vehicle appeared unoccupied, but DFR deployed to the parking lot and observed the vehicle was in fact occupied by the male suspect. The suspect was quickly taken into custody and turned over to the neighboring jurisdiction.
The Everett Police drone team arrested two juveniles for trespassing at a construction site in the 3100 block of Rucker Ave. DFR launched overhead found two juveniles walking inside a building on the property. Both juveniles were arrested and released to their guardians. Charges were referred for Trespass 1.
A victim was struck while driving through the intersection of Walnut St. and 19th St. when they were struck by a vehicle who had failed to stop at a red light, causing their car to flip. The driver of the vehicle fled the collision scene. The suspect driver was later taken into custody and arrested for Driving Under the Influence, hit andrRun, driving with license suspended 2, and a red-light violation. The community member sustained minor injuries.
The final item in this week’s EPD police blotter involves an arachnid. According to EPD, a Sgt. Ross responded to a home in North Everett where a mother and her young children reported a large spider in their kitchen sink. The spider was taken into custody, in a cup, according to the call for service, by Sgt Ross and promptly released into a bush in the alley.
