EVERETT, AUG. 29: The Everett Police Department has identified the kayaker who was reported missing Sunday, Aug. 18 between Edgewater Park and Mukilteo.
Around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, Everett Fire and police responded to a 911 call to assist kayakers and paddleboarders in the water who were caught during sudden stormy weather, officer Natalie Given wrote in an email. During the rescue efforts it was reported one kayaker, unrelated to the previous call, was missing.
The missing kayaker was identified as Miguel Urbano, 44, yesterday, Aug. 28.
Given wrote that Everett PD will continue recovery efforts until all investigative leads are exhausted.
Agencies that have helped in the recovery effort are Everett Fire, U.S. Coast Guard, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Mukilteo Police and Fire, South County Fire, and Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue.
On Aug. 27 Everett PD announced they were utilizing an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) in the effort to recover Urbano. The Seattle Police Department Harbor Unit also provided marine equipment on Aug. 22.
Urbano has been missing for 11 days as of today.
