EVERETT — Outdoor watch parties at Everett’s Box Car Park nearly doubled the attendance in one week, topping out at an estimated 10,900 last Thursday and Friday for the international matches between Mexico and South Korea on Thursday and the U.S. versus Australia Friday, according to The Port of Everett.

“We had just over 5,200 on Thursday and over 5,700 on Friday”, attending the Waterfront Watch Parties, Marina Manager, Kate Anderson tells EverettPost.com. “The energy was high on both days, especially with Team USA winning the match on Friday. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, too, on all four Watch Party days.”

Anderson previously reported that the Waterfront Watch Parties on June 11 and 12 gathered an estimated 6000 over two days at Box Car Park. The Mexico versus South Korea match garnered 5200 last Thursday. The U.S. against Australia’s ‘Socceroos’ tallied 5700 in the balmy mid-day sun Friday.

“We heard from many of the attendees that they were first time visitors to the Everett waterfront. We hope they come back for future events or to walk the waterfront,” said Anderson who added, “The waterfront is becoming more of a destination for all and we love to see our events grow and people frequent all of our businesses at the waterfront.”

The Port partnered with City of Everett and the Snohomish County Sports Commission to host the four Waterfront Watch Parties. Anderson says the Port’s Holiday on the Bay event in December typically draws 5000-6000 attendees but last year an estimated 10,000 attended.

These are the only four watch parties that were scheduled at Everett’s Box Car Park. If other notable watch parties are coordinated in Everett for the United States’s final pool play game against Turkiye on Thursday, EverettPost.com will publish details on our site as they become available.
