EVERETT — The City of Everett announced Tuesday that it will be holding an open house Aug. 18 to discuss a proposed merger between Everett Transit and Community Transit. The public forum will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Banquet Room at Walter Hall Golf Course, located at 1226 Casino Road, Everett, WA 98204.
As the plan to consolidate transit service in Everett continues to progress, community members have shared their support or disapproval at city council meetings in past months. Proponents of the merge look forward to increased transit availability and a greater variety of service options. Dissenters object to an increase in sales tax and are concerned with employment changes for Everett Transit employees. You can read more of the Everett Post’s coverage of the consolidation, including a summary and some opinions shared by community members, here.
Those unable to attend the Tuesday open house may also share their opinions with councilmembers by submitting comments online at everettwa.gov/transitconsolidation.
