Silvertips’ Season Ends in Game 7

EVERETT, APRIL 23: The Everett Silvertips’ historic season came to a close Tuesday night, falling in Game Seven of the Western Conference Semifinal to the Portland Winterhawks by a 4-2 score.

Landon DuPont opened the scoring for Everett 9:57 into the second period, tapping in a rebound in the crease for his fifth goal of the playoffs. Kyle Chyzowski responded by capping off an odd-man rush 19:21 into the second, tying the game with his 11th of the postseason.

Lukas Kaplan restored an Everett lead 3:03 into the third period with a wrist shot from the blueline. A Hudson Darby shot from the corner caught the side of netminder Raiden LeGall’s mask to the back of the net to knot the score at 7:37. Just 30 seconds later, Kyle McDonough banged in a rebound to give the Winterhawks a 3-2 lead.

Diego Buttazzoni iced the game with an empty-netter with 21 seconds left, sending the Hawks to the Western Conference Final for the second straight year.
