BOTHELL — Add some time to your travel plans if it involves I-405 near the Highway 522 interchange the next two nights. Northbound I-405 will be fully closed from midnight to 5 a.m. in Bothell and Kirkland tonight and then the closure will shift to the southbound direction from 11 p.m. tomorrow night until 4 a.m. Friday for pedestrian bridge construction, according to Washington State Department of Transportation.
Drivers traveling overnight from July 15-17 should prepare for full directional closures on I-405 in Bothell and Kirkland. WSDOT says crews will set girders over the roadway to support a future pedestrian bridge as part of the I-405 Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.

- • Northeast 124th Street on-ramp
• Northeast 128th Street on-/off-ramps
• Northeast 132nd Street on-/off-ramps
• Northeast 160th Street off-ramp
The southbound I-405 closure between Northeast 160th Street and Northeast 124th Street starts at 11 p.m. Thursday, July 16 until 4 a.m. Friday, July 17. The following southbound ramps will also close:

WSDOT says the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project enhances 4.5 miles of the corridor, primarily in Bothell, from just south of the State Route 522 interchange and ending at the SR 527 interchange. WSDOT, Sound Transit and design-build contractor Skanska USA Inc., will deliver improvements while addressing aging infrastructure, opening upstream fish habitat, and connecting freight and Regional Growth Centers throughout the corridor.
The $834 million project is expected to complete construction in 2028 in alignment with Sound Transit Bus Rapid Transit.
Beginning on Monday, July 20, those traveling through the area should also expect ongoing evening and overnight lane closures on SR 522 (Bothell Way Northeast) between 96th Avenue Northeast and 98th Avenue Northeast for Sound Transit’s Stride S3 Line construction. Work will take place Monday to Friday overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and continue through September 2026. SR 522 will remain open, but people driving, biking, and walking should plan for changing traffic patterns, possible turn restrictions, and additional travel time through the area. All businesses will remain open and accessible.
