SNOHOMISH COUNTY, MARCH 23: The Sports Events and Tourism Association (ETA) has announced that Tammy Dunn, Executive Director of the Snohomish County Sports Commission (SCSC), is to be inducted into the Sports ETA Hall of Fame during their annual Symposium in Las Vegas on April 22, 2026.
Sports ETA is the only trade association dedicated to the sports events and tourism industry. The organization serves more than 750 member organizations and more than 2,400 sports event professionals. They provide education, networking opportunities, and industry leadership to support the growth and integrity of sports tourism locally and worldwide. The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose careers have made a lasting impact on the sports events and tourism industry through leadership, innovation, and service.
Dunn is widely recognized as one of the sports tourism industry’s most dedicated and influential practitioners. As Executive Director of the SCSC, she has helped position the north end region as a leading destination for both amateur and professional sporting events here in Snohomish county.
She began her career in sports tourism in 2005. She worked in arena operations and parks and recreation as a part-time sports marketing manager when she joined the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau. Her commitment to building relationships with event organizers and venues quickly elevated the county’s reputation as a collaborative sports destination.
“I am honored to be one of the three sports tourism leaders being inducted into the Sports ETA Sports Hall of Fame. It is a joy to work with our stakeholders – hotels, facilities, restaurants, sports organizations, cities and elected officials to make Snohomish County a premier sports destination,” Dunn said in an email interview.
Today, the SCSC works with 18 different communities across the county to secure regional, national, and even international competitions across a variety of sports including tennis, ice sports, badminton, and now the ever popular and growing sport of pickleball. During Dunn’s tenure, the region has hosted major events including Skate America, the Fed Cup, and numerous national amateur championships.
Dunn has also successfully led the organization through major economic challenges, including the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, while continuing to deliver a measurable economic impact through sports tourism. Her leadership has strengthened partnerships among several local governments, venues, event organizers, and corporate partners across Snohomish County.
“Snohomish County is a great community and love making the community a better place through sports. This work is not done alone. The sports commission has a great team and I am very proud of them,” Dunn said.
Dunn has also played a key leadership role within Sports ETA, serving several years on the Board of Directors and contributing to numerous committees that have helped to shaped the future of the sports events and tourism industry.
“Tammy Dunn has built her career on collaboration, persistence, and a deep commitment to growing sports tourism in her community,” said John David, President and CEO of Sports ETA. “Through her leadership in Snohomish County and her dedication to building strong relationships across the industry, Tammy has helped elevate sports tourism as a powerful driver of economic impact and community pride. She is exceptionally deserving of this recognition in the Sports ETA Hall of Fame.”
