EVERETT, NOV.18: The 23rd annual community Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the Everett Firefighters Association is this Sunday, Nov. 24.
The Everett Firefighters Association is a non-profit comprised of more than 350 active and retired firefighters. Everett firefighters and their families volunteer to put on this holiday feast, funded entirely with the help of the association.
The free Thanksgiving dinner has two serving times, the first at noon and the other at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Volunteers of American (VOA) Carl Gipson Center, 3025 Lombard Ave.
“This is a great opportunity to give back to the community that supports Everett fire,” Public Information Officer Rachael Doniger said. “It also brings people together for a holiday meal who might not have family or friends to spend the holidays with.”
This is the third annual Thanksgiving dinner at the VOA Carl Gibson Center since taking over for the city three years ago, Lucia Gallo, VOA Membership and Hospitality Specialist said.
Everett firefighters have a long-standing tradition of hosting holiday dinners and events for many many years, Gallo said.
The menu includes a standard Thanksgiving meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, vegetables and more, Doniger said.
Doniger said that before the COVID-19 Pandemic, the event would serve up to 400 meals. Last year, the event served 250 meals.
“The best part about this event is so many different communities get to come together for a holiday meal. The firefighters and their families really do their best to make a delicious meal… It’s just a warm and friendly event,” Gallo said.
Anyone in the community can attend this event. You can RSVP here.
