EVERETT — Drone camera, two. Everett crime suspects, zero. That’s part of the Everett Police summation of major arrests for this week, adding to recent cases where the Drone as First Responder camera contributed to arrests of a rape suspect, a DUI pursuit suspect, and a second arrest of the first suspect ever arrested with the assistance of the EPD DFR–all within the last month.

The latest DFR arrests involve a construction site burglary at Jackson Elementary school and a separate hit and run in Silver Lake.

According to Everett Police, North patrol and DFR responded to a burglary in progress at the construction site at Jackson Elementary. DFR arrived and observed a male suspect leaving the construction site and getting into a vehicle. Officers located and stopped the vehicle. The occupants were detained. Both surveillance footage from the construction site and DFR were able to identify the occupant of the vehicle who entered and prowled the construction site. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Burglary 2.

In the second case, South patrol responded to a report of a hit and run in Silver Lake. A driver reportedly struck an occupied vehicle waiting at a red light at an intersection. The driver fled the scene, traveling through a nearby gas station and striking a support beam for the covered pumps. Shortly thereafter, he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. DFR responded to the scene and ultimately located the suspect driver hiding in Thornton A. Sullivan Park. The drone operator directed patrol to the driver’s location, where he was taken into custody and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for multiple counts of Hit and Run.

In non-drone related arrests, South patrol responded to a report of a dine and dash at IHOP. An employee reported a male ate $29.00 worth of food and left without paying. The male was promptly detained a block away. Officers recognized him from a dine and dash incident at IHOP four days prior, for which he was cited. This time, he was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Theft 3.

North patrol responded to a report of a male slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle at an intersection. The vehicle was found stopped and running at a stop sign with the turn signal still on. Witnesses and officers attempted to knock on the vehicle windows to rouse the driver, but he did not respond. Officers attempted to use their lights and sirens to wake up the driver, but he still remained unresponsive. After continuing efforts for some time, the male eventually became responsive and exited his vehicle. Officers observed additional indications the male was inebriated, and he disclosed to officers he drank earlier. He was ultimately arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for DUI.

For the last week, Everett Police report 55 arrests and 129 traffic infractions. More information is available at everettwa.gov/epdblotter.
