EVERETT, JUNE 11th – After previously announcing 111 closures, Rite-Aid has released a list of 11 more stores in Washington, including two in Everett, that are set to be shuttered.

Rite-Aid, which had previously purchased the Bartell Drugs store chain, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May 2025. It was their second filing in two years. Rite-Aid has closed close to 500 locations since the merger nationwide.

The Everett locations at 4920 Evergreen Way and at 3909 Hoyt Avenue (Bartell’s attached to Optum/Everett Clinic) are slated to close.

Rite-Aid had previously announced Snohomish/Skagit County closures at Granite Falls, Mount Vernon and Anacortes.

Bartell Drugs started in Seattle, WA in 1890. Several competitor pharmacies and drug stores have confirmed bids for buying former Rite-Aid and Bartell’s locations, including CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Albertsons, Kroger and Giant Eagle, among others according to an article from Reuters.
