EVERETT – Obsidian Beer Hall permanently closed its location after more than two years in business but vowed it’s “not goodbye, just see you later” indicating intentions to re-open at a future location.
Obsidian’s owner says the goal is to find a future spot that can support food service, which the latest location at 1420 Hewitt Avenue didn’t have. In a message to patrons on Reels, the owner said expansion–referencing a kitchen for food service–at the existing site wasn’t possible because the building is up for sale. Reliance only on beer sales has a low profit margin making sustained business viability difficult without other sources of revenue like food sales.
Obsidian’s final day of operation was September 13th. The Hewitt Avenue address was formerly home to Toggle’s Taphouse. Obsidian Beer Hall frequently participated in local events like the Everett Art Walk. On it’s Intsgram profile, Obsidian billed itself as a 21+ Beer Hall in downtown Everett with Hip-Hops and R&Beer.
