At the state track meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, Avery Touchette won the State Championship in the Ambulatory 100 meter dash (13.37) and finished second in the 200m and 400m races. Avery was born with hemiplegic cerebral palsy which affects the left side of his body and his balance. The state championship capped off his first high school track season.
While just a junior, Avery is hoping to study fire science in college and hopes that track & field can carry him to that end. He will also compete this summer at track meets and invitationals all over the country in the Ambulatory Division. Head boys track coach at Lake Stevens is Nick Page; Athletic Director is Jason Pearson.
OF NOTE: The state ambulatory 400m was won by Ramon Little (Arlington) 1:00.80 with Avery Touchette (LS) taking second. Little was a 2024 KRKO Russell and Hill Athletic of the Month during Cross Country season.
