Exceptional sunshine shimmers across Everett

EVERETT — Unseasonably, but greatly appreciated, warm sunshine and blue skies blanketed the North Sound and a repeat performance is on-tap with Friday’s forecast as the high temperature could surpass 70 degrees in mid-October, placing the mercury 10 degrees or more above typical pre-Halloween temps.

As gorgeous as the Friday forecast appears, with an expected 70-degree high temperature, its nowhere close to the 2022 record of 87 degrees on October 16. The average high and low temperatures for mid-October are 59 degrees and 45, respectively. The record high temperature for October 15 is 75 degrees, set in 1963.

Enjoy it while it lasts, because this appears to be the swan song of warm sunshine as clouds and rain are forecast for the weekend.

Friday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 70. Light and variable wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph. Into Saturday, rain likely, mainly after 4am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 54. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

A lot of Everett residents were maximizing their time in the summer-like sun. Click on these pictures below to see.
