BOTHELL — Add in extra time for your weekend travel plans if it involves southbound I-405 through Bothell and the on-going construction zone. All lanes of southbound I-405 from SR 527 in Canyon Park to SR 522 will close Friday Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. and will not re-open until 4 a.m. Monday October 12, according to the Washington State Dept. of Transportation.
People traveling southbound throughout the region should expect heavier traffic and longer travel times on both directions of I-5 traversing to southbound I-405 in Lynnwood and then through Bothell, as drivers will be forced to exit at the SR 527 off-ramp and then be detoured on surface streets back to I-405 south of SR 522. Extra congestion may also impact southbound 525 drivers approaching the entrance to southbound I-405.
The following ramps will also close starting at 10 p.m. Friday: SR 527 on-ramp to southbound I-405, Northeast 195th on-/off-ramps to I-405, and the southbound I-405 off-ramp to SR 522. Crews will work on drainage, pavement reconstruction and bridge repair in the northern portion of the Brickyard construction zone.
Travelers are also reminded about extra traffic congestion Sunday, Oct. 11, when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field. Also, through Seattle, northbound I-5 in Seattle is reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge until the end of 2026 as part of the Revive I-5 Ship Canal Bridge Preservation project.
