First we hear from Henry VonJouanne of the Northwest Baseball Umpires Association as he talks about a big umpire training event being held on Saturday at Funko Field at Everett Memorial Stadium. Then it's all basketball with Lakewood Head Boys Basketball Coach Anthony Wiederkehr talking about the Cougars; Marysville Pilchuck Head Boys Basketball Coach Luke Carpenter talking about the Tomahawks and finally, Kamiak Head Girls Basketball Coach May Tupua and players Bella Hasan and Nayella George.

KRKO Russell and Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month-October 2021-Anna Schroedl-Lake Stevens

Our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month of October 2021 is Lake Stevens senior volleyball player Anna Schroedl. The Outside Hitter was Co-Captain of the Lake Stevens team that finished the regular season undefeated (9-0) and ranked #1 in the state; the Vikings finished 7th at the 2021 State Tournament (19-2) at the Yakima Valley Sundome. Anna’s season long stats were impressive with 2.5 kills per set; 1.4 digs; .4 aces and .2 blocks per set. Lake Stevens Head Volleyball Coach is Kyle Hoglund.

KRKO Russell and Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month-October 2021-Trent Nobach-Arlington

Our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month of October 2021 is Arlington senior football player Trent Nobach. Trent led the Eagles to their first state playoff appearance since 2012 (a 38-24 loss to Mount Spokane in the 3A Regionals). He threw for 2,593 yards, 31 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions while completing 69.9% of his passes. Nobach is carrying a 3.9 Grade Point Average at Arlington High School and has committed to play football next season at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. Head Football Coach at Arlington High School is Greg Dailer.  

High School Boys Basketball: Snohomish at Marysville Getchell 1/27/22

Western Conference 3A High School Boys Basketball Game; the Snohomish Panthers travel to meet the Marysville Getchell Chargers, Thursday, January 27, 2022 live from the Marysville Getchell High School Gymnasium. Tom Lafferty and former Everett Coach Darrell Olson on the call. Our KRKO Allstate Insurance Good Hands Players of the Game was Getchell freshman guard Arion "Bubba" Palacol who had 36 points leading the Chargers to a 55-49 win over Snohomish.

A big Wesco 4A Boys Basketball match-up between the Glacier Peak Grizzlies and Lake Stevens Vikings; Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Tom Lafferty and former Stanwood Coach Zach Ward on the call. The KRKO Allstate Good Hands Player of the Game was Glacier Peak freshman guard Joe Lee who ended the game with 26 points (his teammate Bobby Siebers also scored 26). Glacier Peak defeated Lake Stevens 72-41.

Our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete for the Month of September 2021 is Marysville Pilchuck senior football player Dylan Carson. Dylan rushed for a state-leading and school record 2,671 yards (eighth all-time in the State of Washington); and a school record 46 all-purpose touchdowns (third best all-time). Defensively, Carson recorded 76 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 4 quarterback sacks.  Marysville Pilchuck advanced to the 3A State Semi-Finals and along the way set a school record with 427 yards rushing and 5 TDs in a 39-21 State Quarterfinals victory over #3 ranked Yelm. KRKO Russell and Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month-September 2021-Chloe Seelhoff-Glacier Peak

Our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete for the Month of September 2021 is Glacier Peak senior soccer player Chloe Seelhoff. Chloe led the Grizzlies to a 15-5 overall record; a Western Conference 4A Co-Championship and an appearance in the 4A State Quarterfinals. Seelhoff scored 15 goals and dished out 14 assists during the 2021 soccer season and was named second-team all-state. She has already signed to play soccer at the University of Washington next year. Head coach of Glacier Peak Girls Soccer is Melinda Torre.

High School Boys Basketball: Mountlake Terrace at Marysville Getchell 1/11/22

High School Boys Basketball for Tuesday, January 11, 2022. The Mountlake Terrace Hawks travel to meet the Marysville Getchell Chargers in a Wesco 3A match-up. Tom Lafferty and former Stanwood Coach Zach Ward have the call. The KRKO Allstate Insurance Good Hands Player of the Game is Terrace sophomore guard Jaxon Dubiel. He had 11 points, and hit an amazing buzzer beater from the center court logo to end the first half. Hawks win 66-29.

The Cascade Bruins travel to meet the Stanwood Spartans in Western Conference 3A Boys Basketball on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Tom Lafferty and former Everett head coach Darrell Olson have the call. Our KRKO Allstate Good Hands Player of the Game was senior Kolten Bartram-Scott, who ended the game with 18 points in Stanwood's 69-60 win over Cascade.
