Everett Community College to host Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner

EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College will celebrate athletes and coaches inducted into the college’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020, 2021 and 2022 at a dinner on June 9, 2022.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 Athletic Hall of Fame ceremonies were held virtually. First, it's the Cascade Bruins and head coach Mike Perrine and players Alexa Hamshaw, Abby Surowiec, Jaidyn Wilson and Ashlyee Bloch. Then it's the Marysville Getchell Chargers head coach Mike Moran. Finally, we learn about the upcoming Everett 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament with Executive Director Rick Steltenpohl of Eventuris Company.

KRKO Russell and Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month-March 2022-Alexis Slater-Mariner High School

Congratulations to our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for March 2022, senior pitcher Alexis Slater of the Mariner Marauders softball team. Alexis has had a great start to this season with a 6-1 record and a 2.18 ERA in 45 innings pitched with 80 strikeouts and just 10 walks; she batted .600 with a .643 on base percentage. In the Covid-shortened 2021 season Slater had 89 1/3 innings pitched; sported a 0.71 ERA with 190 strikeouts and just 21 walks. She also batted .415 for the month. Our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month for March 2022 is junior pitcher Kale Hammer of the Snohomish Panthers baseball team. Already in the month of March Kale sported a 3-0 record and a 0.00 ERA through four games pitched; going 21 1/3 innings; allowing just 9 hits; 43 strikeouts and just 9 walks. He registered double digit strikeouts in his last 3 games and struck out a Snohomish record-tying 17 batters against Stanwood. KRKO Russell and Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month-February 2022-Alex Rapelje-Edmonds-Woodway

Our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month for February 2022 is Alex Rapelje, senior wrestler at Edmonds-Woodway High School. Alex is a two-time state champion wrestler; winning title at 152 lbs in 2022 and previously at 138 lbs in 2020. (Due to the pandemic, there was no Mat Classic State Wrestling Tournament in 2021). Rapelje finished fourth in state as a 120 lb freshman in 2019 at The Tacoma Dome.
